Dance of the nations – SISU’s 2016 International Carnival

At the end of last week I attended something very beautiful and interesting – the 2016 International Carnival organized by the Shanghai International Studies University (SISU). During this event the foreign students from SISU were invited to present their countries’ culture to the audience.

Each participating country organized its own stand – where people could come and taste food, check informative materials or ask its hosts questions about their native countries. Moreover, some students also had artistic performances.

Many universities in China organize this kind of events, and I attended several of them, but the one organized by SISU is by far the best one.

I think that has to do with the fact that SISU is one of the favorite destinations for foreigners who want to study Chinese in China, but also for the local students who want to study foreign languages.

I took several videos and photos during this event because I enjoyed it very much. Check out bellow some of my favorite moments.

The video’s are in HD. If the image is unclear, then you should change the resolution from the lower bar of the video.

Tajikistan

Tajikistan was my favorite team of all. The Tajik students prepared a very beautiful stand and they had many goodies for their visitors. Although I didn’t captured their team’s performance on the stage I did filmed a spontaneous dance they performed in front of their stand during one of the breaks; this was my favorite moment from the entire festival.

The French students from SISU decided that Gérard Depardieu is the best to represent their country, ignoring the fact that he changed his passport to a Russian one. Fair enough.

The Dutch students told me the guy in the picture is a progressive politician who tries to bring more refugees in Netherlands
